Epson SureColor R5070L
Epson SureColor R5070L, along with the Epson SureColor R5070, is one of Epson’s first resign signage printers. Both wide-format signage printers use resin ink technology, however, they are distinct in their ink-handling systems.
The Epson SureColor R5070L can hold two 1.5-liter ink packs of each color, whereas the R5070 can only hold one. A mechanism automatically switches the empty ink cartridge after it runs out.
Overall, Epson’s SureColor R5070L and the R5070 were created to complete with Latex printers.
The resin printers, which “use water-based (aqueous) pigmented inks with an optimizer and onboard heating system”, enables the user to laminate prints much faster because of the faster drying time.
Furthermore, because of the ink’s scratch resistance, many prints will not need to be laminated at all.
Epson SureColor R5070L Features
User Replaceable Printheads (New)
In the past, if a printhead malfunctioned, you would have had to call a technician, which could have taken anywhere from a few hours to a day or two. With Epson’s new replaceable printheads, you don’t have to worry about that.
If there is a printhead issue, you can simply replace the printhead in less than an hour. However, you won’t need to worry about frequent malfunctions.
The all-new printheads are 2.6-inch PrecisionCore Micro TFP printheads developed specifically by Epson for use with their resin inks. The R-series printheads are durable and built to last.
Three-Heater System
A three-heater system ensures even drying for the R5070L. The media is warmed up by the printer as it enters the pre-heater.
A secondary platen heater keeps the media at a stable temperature while the printing takes place.
Finally, the post-heater fully dries the media as it exits the printer. Epson “ensures that the print is fully dry before it hits the take-up roll.”
High Quality Images and Consistency
The Epson SureColor R5070L uses a 6-color Epson RS UltraChrome inks. Combined with the PrecisionCore Micro TFP, R5070L and R5070 printers can print with superb consistency and quality.
Furthermore, Epson’s variable-drop printing, proprietary RIP technology, vibrant inks, and optimizer enable the R-Series printers to produce exceptional image quality.
Powerful, Easy-to-Use Software
All Epson R-Series printers come with Epson Edge Print RIP software. This makes it easy, even for new users, to start printing quality prints with the Epson SureColor R5070L.
An Adobe PostScript 3 engine helps give the software the ease-of-use quality and simplicity.
Popular RIP software such as Onyx can be integrated with the Epson Edge Print RIP software.

A built-in large-screen panel lets you control the R5070L with ease.
You can adjust the quick-start heaters. You can select the media as well as the color mode. You can even see the estimated time until completion.
Automated Maintenance
Before printing, a fabric wiper system thoroughly cleans the printhead as well as the R5070L printer itself. The wiper removes dust from the printer and makes sure that the next print will be residue free.
