Ink

With water-based HP Latex Inks and HP latex technology, the 315 printer can print on paper, wallpaper, self-adhesive vinyl, and more mediums up to 54 inches wide.

Latex prints are durable on a variety of common substrates without the need for lamination. They can last for up to three years without serious damage due to a scratch resistance on par with solvent-based inks on polyvinyl chloride and self-adhesive vinyl banners. If you do choose to laminate your prints for extra protection, they can last up to five years in outdoor conditions and even longer indoors.

Latex inks are versatile and can be used to create canvases, posters, heat transfer films, vehicle wraps, traffic signs, wallpaper, and more. The HP thermal print heads only take up to 90 seconds to warm up, and the prints dry instantly to make same-day delivery easy.

The HP Latex 315 printer also includes a latex optimizer to immobilize pigments on the print’s surface rapidly, as well as high efficiency curing to create prints with sharp and consistent picture quality.

Unlike solvent inks, these HP latex inks are odorless, making them suitable for use in smaller indoor spaces. They are also much more eco-friendly. The water-based inks lack the fumes and potentially hazardous air pollutants that solvents are known for, removing the need for special ventilation in the workplace. Users can easily change the cartridges themselves without the risk of handling volatile organic compounds.

HP’s latex inks are Greenguard Gold certified to meet indoor air quality standards with low chemical emissions. They are also nickel-free and require no hazard warning labels on the ink cartridges. HP inks are certified by Ecologo to have reduced environmental impact. Prints made with these latex inks meet the Committee for Health-related Evaluation of Building Products criteria for the health-related evaluation of volatile organic compound emissions of indoor building products.

As a company, HP is dedicated to compliance with all international wallcovering industry standards as well as environmentally conscious business practices in all of their latest latex inks.

They feature several online learning tools to help new 315 printer owners with topics ranging from operation and troubleshooting to using your new printer to grow your business.

Comparisons

When compared with other latex printers, the HP Latex Printer 315 is built to allow fast latex printing in areas with limited workspace. Its compact design and front media loading give this printer a smaller footprint than similar devices, plus odorless HP Latex Inks make it better suited to indoor spaces than printers using solvent inks.

The HP Latex 315 can also fit any business environment with no requirement for a dedicated power line and simple installation. You can make installation even easier with the option of professional installation by an HP-certified technician who will consult with you to prepare the optimal setup site and come to your location physically to get your printer started at an additional cost.

The HP Latex 315 price is lower than other 300 series printers due to its smaller size, making it a more affordable option for latex printing, especially when paired with its strict adherence to Energy Star efficiency guidelines.

However, its max roll width of 54 inches is noticeably smaller than the 64-inch width supported by other 300 series printers such as the HP Latex 335 or the HP Latex 365.  Consequently, the 315 printer can print less square feet per hour than other models.

Its smaller frame also only supports roll weights of up to 55 pounds, while larger models can handle almost twice the weight at 92.6 pounds. The HP Latex 315 comes with a take-up reel optional feature as well.

This printer comes with considerable upgrades from older models. An HP Optical Media Advance Sensor is included so that the HP Latex 315 Printer can manage precise motion control of the media’s advance between different print swaths.

With DPI print technology, the HP Latex 315 Printer is able to achieve the most dynamic print quality color. It also makes it even easier to deliver prints immediately with an automatic x-axis cutter that can be used for paper-based media, vinyl wrap, or backlit film.

The 4-inch touch screen makes color management simple with multiple pre-installed profile libraries and the ability to create customized or optimized printing profiles. The HP 315 includes easy-to-use software FlexiPrint HP Edition RIP software in the box, and HP Quick Substrate Profiling gives you the best printing options for every material.

For an affordable latex printer that can make the most of limited space and print sharp and quick-drying prints, the HP Latex 315 Printer is your best choice. If you require more square footage and the ability to handle larger and heavier media rolls, you may want to consider other latex printers as long as you have the space for a bigger appliance.

Reviews

The HP Latex Printer 315 has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from experts who needed a small but versatile printer that creates print media with professional quality. Its durable, high-quality prints make it easier for sign makers and other professionals to create eye-catching advertisements or promotions in the form of banners, backlit sidewalk signs, or even vehicle graphics.

The picture quality remains crisp and clear in both indoor and outdoor conditions, even without lamination, guaranteeing customer satisfaction. Buyers can also take advantage of fast warm-up and print times in combination with completely dry prints and an automatic cutter to make accepting more jobs and delivering on shorter deadlines simple.

The HP Latex 315 is supported by HP’s one-year limited hardware warranty so that you can take on projects without worrying about being unable to complete a job because of unexpected issues. HP Care Pack Services provide additional packaged services to enhance or extend the standard hardware warranty for a reasonable cost, especially considering the time and money that could be lost by unexpected repair costs and printer downtime.

The printing speed is also considerably faster than older models, although it can vary depending on the media used and finishing options. Customers can choose from the following printing modes:

  • 48 m²/hr (517 ft²/hr) Billboard (2 pass)
  • 16 m²/hr (174 ft²/hr) – Outdoor Plus (6 pass)
  • 12 m²/hr (129 ft²/hr) – Indoor Quality (8 pass)
  • 10 m²/hr (108 ft²/hr) – Indoor High Quality (10 pass)
  • 6 m²/hr (65 ft²/hr) – Backlits, Textiles, and Canvas (16 pass)
  • 5 m²/hr (54 ft²/hr) – High Saturation Textiles (20 pass)

Non-toxic and odor-free latex inks make the HP Latex 315 Printer one of the best choices to meet client expectations for interior decoration. Users can create wallpapers, canvases, and window coverings to add a creative flair to their indoor spaces in commercial and home settings.

Customers of printing businesses also feel better about their orders when the amazing image quality and durability of their product don’t come at the cost of potential environmental problems.

Your workspace will be safer than those that use solvent ink types because a lack of nickel and hazardous air pollutants removes the need for precautionary safety measures such as warning labels or special ventilation. HP latex inks meet high environmental and safety standards with UL Ecologo and UL Greenguard Gold certifications.

Their lack of fumes or air pollutants also makes these inks and their products compliant with the Committee for Health-related Evaluation of Building Products standards for indoor emission levels. Buying an eco-friendly appliance like the HP Latex 315 Printer can also provide the benefit of cost-efficient operation.

An Energy Star certification and a registration with the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool ecolabel means that your HP printer’s strict energy guidelines will reduce the energy cost of all of your print jobs.
